Hi all,
What do you guys think of being able to custimize the order of headings on the HomePage?
Let's say that I wanted to have comunity first, then other stuff, then games like say way down the bottem? This way you could have the features of the site you use most often at the verry top of the page.

That sounds like a cool idea. Actually, I think that might be good for Premiums since we all already have those QN commands to jump from place to place, but to be able to customize our homepages would be neat. *smile*

sounds an interesting idea, but more than that, I'd like to hide links to pages on the site I never use, thus making my customised homepage smaller.

Maybe we could somehow combine your and my ideas? Not sure how that would be implamented. An idea off the top of my head would be under my account, site settings you could have the folowing. All the headings with a combo box for show heading or disable heading. When the heading is shown checkboxes would be below the heading for each link from within that heading. Under the game heading would be a checkbox saying for example....Show blackjack? Checking the box would show the game and unchecking the box would hide the link from within the games heading on the main page. aditionally if you choose not to display a heading, the checkboxes would be hidden. This way if you chose not to show the games heading the checkboxes for the games obveaously wouldn't be there. Takeing this one step further, you could have a link someware under site settings showing all your custamization settings. Here is an idea of how this may be laid out.
The folowing headings are being shown.
Games.
You Selected the folowing games to show:
Blackjack
Keno
Who Said That.

Second heading shown
Other stuff
You selected the folowing stuff to show:
Happy Birthday.
Each setting could be linked to so you could click on the keno or Happy Birthday link from right within the settings shown page to jump you to that point on the zone.

Am I explaining this well?
Thoughts?

Yes, I think I understand, and the idea is more intriguing.

I would hope there would be a checkbox where you could undo your customizations instead of having to go through and undo each customization.

I like it.

There would be a link to return to zone defaults.

I like this idea a lot. think it's very interesting and should be something considered.

I also like this idea.

I like this in principle, but it sounds like a coding nightmare, especially considering that every time we add a new feature, we have to go through a bunch of pages to update settings. I'm not against it, but I think it'll be something that happens in the more distant future when/if some of the main code gets rewritten.

J, I figgured something that complexed would have to have the code rewritten.

I like this, very much like Drupal which has this in the idea of blocks and regions.

I want to see the log in list, so no go on that. J, since this site is already 4 years old, why not rewrite some of the main code sometime? I'm sure PHP has a new version that might work better than the version used in 2003.
